CA> I've heard of that being done but the opportunity to buy one or CA> the other is not universal across the USA. Its a question of the size of the customer base as to whether its economical for the companies to upgrade their lines. CA> I know of many who feel much the same way and refuse to have CA> cable at their homes. With the popularity of 'reality' shows I CA> feel that cable TV has sunk even lower and that disturbs me. Different strokes for different folks. Some of the home improvement themed reality shows are ok. American Hotrod & American Chopper are funny. CA> I see that Ross has jumped in on this thread and while I don't CA> agree with the _tone_ of his rebuttal I have to admit that the CA> internet can be many times worse than cable TV with the same CA> inherent need to monitor children's access. Unfortunately some CA> adults can't cope with the internet as per Ross references to CA> the cyber stalking of young children by adults. Indeed.. I only disagree with the reasons Ed cited to "limit" himself, and while that is his choice and right to do so, if he truly resents the "filth" he should be avoiding the internet. CA> I would prefer that adults would step in and manage the CA> 'information' in a more responsible way even if that means some CA> restrictions and the loss of a certain 'freedom' that may be CA> too tempting for too many people (both young and old). The responsible adults do as you say, they use parental controls on their TV/Cable boxes and computers. A really responsible adult would setup a proxy server on their home networks to block out certain sites on the Internet. But that is not the rule of theumb. I have had customers come in and ask what they could do after they caught their kids surfing somewhere inappropriate but then again, todays kids are often more computer savvy than their parents. :/ == Ross Fidonet Feeds Or Fidonet In Your Newsreader! http://www.easternstar.info Blog: http://www.cassell.us Email: rcassell[at]gmail[dot]com ....
