Alan Zisman and others use 'juge.com', an OS/2 BBS located in
Texas. It's a different user interface but very 'standard' as
BBS used to be written. :-) 

Doc's is sometimes offline for a half hour to an hour (I'm
guessing that is for maintenance purposes) but I haven't
noticed it being offline more lately than it has been at any
other time. 

The obvious advantage to using either Doc's or Juge is that you
are up/downloading to the same BBS most other echo participants
are using and can therefore avoid the 'fido lag' of BBS further
down 'the pipe'.
