I once "repaired" a friends PC that had developed some crazy faults:
hanging up, getting various other errors.

Upon opening the case I found the CPU fan (and the PS fan) grossly
clogged up with dust, lint, etc. I took a digital picture of it and now
show it to those that operate their PCs in "contaminated" environments:
those in rooms with carpet, PCs mounted low or on the floor and those in
rooms with heavy traffic (kids) and those with pets.

I tell them to put the PC up on a desk and maintain a program of
cleaning the system periodically. Some take heed, others seem to ignore
and pay the piper.
