I've had occasion to have to send a couple of drives out for data recovery.
The first was many years ago (early- to mid-90's) and cost ~$800 to recover
data from a 60-80MB (not GB) drive.  Last year, a drive that was not being
backed up (!!!) at one of the sites under my supervision died and was
recovered at a cost of ~$6k.  (No, I was not the one who was working in the
site and I delivered a letter of first warning to the employee.)

If you really want me to go further, I should be able to locate a service in
(prbably) the Toronto area from another one of my underlings who works in the
Waterloo, ON area...
