I think you'll always see this sort of problem with removeable media from
multiple vendors and drives from multiple vendors.  More expensive products
may help the issue but then again...

I went up-market for my DVD writer (Plextor) and find that even though I use
media from the recommended list, there are still problems.  They generally
recommend Verbatim/Maitsubishi media with others having scattered results.
Unfortunately, I can't find these media locally so maybe I'll hafta start
ordering from the Internet...
