Subj : Family History To : JEAN PARROT From : JAY EMRIE Date : Wed Sep 28 2005 04:59 pm I have found a company in Salem, MA that has an original copy of my book -same as mine for $93.00 for hard bound. They also will sell a soft bound copy for the same price. I ordered the soft bound. If it will not lay flat enough toe flat bed scan it I can always "unbind" in and scan it that way and have a local book company rebind it. Looks like the problem may be solved - FINGERS CROSSED! JP> JE> before e here - and society - i does come before e even if after c in JP> JE> this word. There are many other exceptions to both rules. JP> Thanks for setting me straight. I still use my speckcheller. JP> JE> By the way, I have two OCR programs - so no need to send one. Thanks JP> JE> anyhow. JP> I have used two of them before this Sprint and this one showed JP> them off. In a page, an average of two errors. I have had the same results with both of my programs. Amazing! I only worry about the possibility that the font used in my book may not be readily recognized by the 115 year old later programs. JP> JE> I am seriously looking into a Docupen R700 hand held scanner JP> JE> that does not need to be attached to a computer while scanning. JP> Nice item. Worry about batteries then. The scanner is not the JP> problem in this endeavour, the OCR will be unless you plan on JP> keeping all pages in image format. Mind you, a scanner with a high JP> resolution is the first step. No worry about that. They are recharged when connected to a USB port for downloading the images.
