Subj : Win XP :-( To : CHARLES SCAGLIONE From : TOM WALKER Date : Wed Sep 28 2005 09:40 am CS> TW> Again YES it is there, along with Notepad, but Wordpad DOES NOT WORK. CS>Tom, I don't want to alarm you but that particular problem can occur CS>with certain virus infections. Have you done a complete scan of your CS>XP to be sure it's clean? CS>There's a bunch of stuff about it in the Google Groups data base. You CS>might want to take a look and see if any of it applies to you. I CS>don't know if you got on the net after installing XP but if you did CS>and was not using a firewall or at least a router with NAT, it CS>wouldn't take long to get infected. I know you're on dial up but CS>that doesn't matter - just as dangerous. I use AVG wghich I update almost Daily and it finds Nothing. I also keep XP updated. I am using the XP firewal lbut it passes Gibsons Firewall test. Although that could be of little consiquence. But as I found out Two prior versions of "Wordpad", 8/4/96 and 4/23/99 apparently work just fine. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
