Subj : copying pages To : TOM WALKER From : THURSTON ACKERMAN Date : Wed Sep 28 2005 01:19 am TW>TA>You have received a wealth of information but TW>TA>I am surprized (and embarassed 8-( we haven't TW>TA>mentioned those who have copied more genealogy TW>TA>information from all sorces; the Mormans. TW>TA>I recommend you look in your Yellow Pages for TW>TA>a local Church of Jesus of Latter Day Saints. TW>TA>If the one you phone doesn't have a Family TW>TA>History Center that can help you, I am sure TW>TA>they can advise where it is; and my earlier TW>TA>experiences makes me reasonably sure if they TW>TA>don't have someone to help you, they will be TW>TA>able to put you in touch with someone who TW>TA>can share their know-how with you, TW>TA>Many of these Family History Centers get rather TW>TA>busy at times and will often make an appointment TW>TA>convenient for both of you. TW>y The remote libraries have NO micrlfilm "Copying" Capabilites and the TW>staff would have little knowledge that would be helpfull. TW>Now if his records were "Published" at some point in the past they could TW>search their Microfilm Catalog and see if their Church had copied it. I sense you have not been as fortunate as some of we other family historians in this respect. We have three LDS Family History Centers here the greater metro-Boston area, where I have had very positive how-to support from the volunteers there; as well as in their amazing facilitary in Salt Lake city. More than few have at-cost copying facilities for non-copyright materials (gets busy at times by folks less fortunate then we, so appointments can save some frustations 8-).
