Subj : i or e ? To : JEAN PARROT From : JAY EMRIE Date : Tue Sep 27 2005 10:54 am JP> JE> þ OLXWin 1.00a þ i before e except after c - What a weird society! JP> This is included on topic, Word ! Can you elucidade this for JP> me. Is this always right ? Is this a form of a joke ? Set me JP> straight, I am still learning. Sure, Jean. One of the rules for spelling taught grammar school kids is "i before e, except after c" (field, wield, etc.). For the most part this is true, but there are exceptions such as above (weird - not i before e here - and society - i does come before e even if after c in this word. There are many other exceptions to both rules. By the way, I have two OCR programs - so no need to send one. Thanks anyhow. I am seriously looking into a Docupen R700 hand held scanner that does not need to be attached to a computer while scanning. www.docupen.com Jay --- þ OLXWin 1.00a þ I feel like a dragonfly parked in a parallel universe. * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
