It's supposedly on their feature list for 1.2X although it appears the
pre-release version still does not have the ability to set the default
save to DOC or RTF.  As with other open source software, one has to be
patient for any changes to come along.

I'm using both the Windows version and the Linux version.  The Windows
version is stable and works very well.   Wish I could say the same for
the Linux version - still some bugs, mostly with printing and fonts.
