GV> Well, Darlene, that's exactly what it means. Windows 2000 and XP GV> differ fundamentally from 98 and ME. The latter two were based on GV> MSDOS, the early operating system that was abandoned in the mid-90s. GV> Windows 2000 and XP are descended from Windows NT (New Technology), GV> which appeared about the time MSDOS was retired. Their underpinnings GV> are very different. GV> Eventually, programmers will stop writing for 98 and ME altogether. GV> Why? Our site keeps a record of which operating systems our hundreds GV> of thousands of visitors use. Nearly four out of five have XP. Only 10 GV> percent have 98. And ME? It doesn't even register. GV> So I think you have a dying operating system. That is why you have to run the old 98se amd Me with those and get any kind of use out of them. It's like in some older New York appartments, there are ancient steam boiler systems that date back to the start of the 20'th century. It would be pointless to upgrade these since they work perfectly well and with good to great efficiency. M*i*k*e .... Hell must be full, the damned are working tech support. --- Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 * Origin: Juxtaposition BBS, Telnet:juxtaposition.dynip.com (1:167/133) .
