AZ> ASCII characters (going to 255) are used in DOS and DOS-based AZ> programs That is the set that TSE Jr. uses. AZ> Alt+0233 gives me é (an accented 'e' in case this doesn't display AZ> properly) on this Dell notebook running WinXP (in Notepad); but I need AZ> to remember to hold the FN key down and use the keys with numbers on AZ> them for the 'numeric keypad' overlaid on the standard letter keys. All same-same here on the Thinkpad. AZ> Doing that, Alt+0216 is Ø (an 'O' with a line through it), and AZ> Alt+0248 is ø And I can use this Alt-0248 if I look out the window, the thermometer is at 3ø C here. This conversation about ASCII is very interresting but not as much as working on a G4...I just hate that glide pad ! Yesterday, a friend came here with a non-connecting Mac. I played with it and it saw our AP here, identified it properly by its MAC address, 88% of signal strength, but no out-ing nor in-ing. I then connected an RJ-11 to it and got the same results. The handshake took place properly and it connected at 48,000. Further investigation showed that the firewall was activated at full protection. Now, brace yourself... the owner did not remember the PW ! ! ! Typical Mac user, I would say. He does not know the first thing about even looking at his HD's content. He was forever saying: Ha ! How did you get this on the screen ? Nice machine though, a PowerBook. 3 hour battery is my envy. This confirms my opinion that Mac users are so different from PC users, my son included. He uses his machine quite well but does not know it at all. He asked me to use my Thinkpad to see his monthly assignment, saw it too. His G4 does not. Go search ! I will say nothing about the cost vs my G-41. Again in Kamouraska ! Have a great day ! ___ Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
