Linspire has created a 'user friendly' linux. They have worked
with Walmarts in the past to offer an amazingly low entry level
user pricing for both Linspire and hardware to run it on
preinstalled for each user. Linspire maintains a (for pay)
repository of 2000+ software packages arranged to autoinstall
into the Linspire OS _and_ has arrangements to obtain (for pay)
commercial linux applications at a reduced price. 

Preinstalled Linspire is available at CompUSA, Walmarts,
BestBuy, and many other retail outlets:

In the USA this is _not_ how RedHat, Suse, Debian, Mandriva,
Xandros, Ubuntu, or any other 'distribution' is being marketed. 

I'm wondering what you want them to do - go to each user's
house and live there to help them until they feel they can
continue to use Linspire without help 24/7? 

OTOH if anyone is feeling 'macho' they can grab the latest
SlackWare CDs, compile their own binaries including a custom
kernel and _then_ install linux! 

No guts no glory, eh?
