I presume this box _should_ work also when I swap out the DOS HDD GM>and insert the W98SE HDD (don't want to take down my Fidonet mailer until GM>the weekend)... If everything is working fine now without needing to resort to manually setting speeds and duplex, you'll be fine. It's a hardware thang. GM>I imagine I may have some ordeals when I remove the printer hardware from GM>the parallel port, but I'm not going to loose sleep over it until it comes GM>time to install the print server. I've had to be, ummm, resourceful when dealing with some printers on the network. We had an HP inkjet that was desired to be shared but the drivers didn't support networkng. That meant I had to load the driver on each computer and lie that it was attached to LPT1. After the installation, I then created a new local port which was actually the network address (\\\) which worked fine. A bit of a pain but it worked. GM>One thing that I'm curious about: Will the print server have a MAC GM>address? Yup. Each and every device that is attached to the network *must* have a hardware (MAC) address that uniquely identifies the attachment. --- *Durango b211 * DurangoMail for Windows NT/9x * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
