Nope, no such luck.

The mystery was finally solved. Someone had renamed the My Computer icon
to "Exit". It was in the midst of other icons on the desktop. After a
lot of looking, trying all sorts of suggestions I noticed the "Exit"
icon and wondered "What on earth could that be for?" Clicked on it and
there was the My Computer data. Renamed it to My Computer and all was
well.
