The existence of Linspire seems to have inspired others to
forge on ahead and not give up trying to improve linux. The
'deal' Linspire made with Walmart to sell an inexpensive
computer with Linspire pre-installed was also an inspiration to
others IMO. More so than RedHat ever did.

Exactly - it is a start. That Linspire continues to exist
should be an inspiration. Undermining that attempt by
discouraging people from paying for any part of it will only
bring Linspire to an end and have the reverse effect.
