Hopefully, it was more like a cable issue... JP> You are more than likely right. I had tried many different JP> cables. I will re-approach IBM for a replacement. A call to IBM, just now, is getting me a new on warranty 20 g HD. There was a repeat of the "No operating system ". Your bomb just went. Remember my message of a few days ago about not being able to instal Office 2000 on a redone XP ? Well, I am hard headed enough and have lots of spare time. I got to it, I copied all the files that the loader said were missing, over the LAN, from the Thinkpad to my desktop, about 12 of them, and now it went to completion. Strange ! It was a tedious endeavour, I had to get out of the instal to copy the file into System32 with the ensuing need to reenter all the keys and so on. But I WON ! We will never know why the instal of XP did not write all these files as it had done on all my systems before. Nice to have a few systems running here. Back in Roxboro at N45.5 W073.6 Have a great day ! ___ Blue Wave/DOS v2.30 --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) .
