Tom's hardware. I doubt Tom has an 'Itanium'?

If Tom downloaded the "modest 224 kb download" he had the wrong
version for his hardware. The 147 KB is more likely the right
one. 

Also: "Tweak UI Version 2.10 requires Windows XP Service Pack 1
or above / Windows Server 2003. If you have a Windows XP system
without any Service Packs installed, download Version 2.00"

You've made an assumption here without a complete understanding
of the circumstance regarding TweakUI (as did Alan
apparently?). Your advice to wipe the drive and start all over
is what I like to refer to as "BAD ADVICE".
