RF> As I recall, Alan's comment about Linux users (I called RF> them elitists) who think than anyone using a computer RF> should be able to compile was what started this thread. I don't think Thurston responded to that thread since he included CS comment about using PAN and downloading in usenet format. RF> Ack doesn't compile and wants to read Fido in Linux. CS RF> suggested PAN, etc., from Ross's news server as an RF> alternative, This isn't the first time people have been directed to use a usenet newreader for FIDO and probably won't be the last either. RF> and now YOU tell him and everyone else to.... learn to RF> compile (implied) and use what everyone else (linux users?) RF> are using??? :-) You are adding words I did not type and then replying to your own wording. I did not say "everyone" I said "most people" and MM and ATP binaries (no need to compile) are available for Linux, Windows, and even DOS. RF> That's not only elitism. It's kooky. Nothing I typed is elitist. Recommending a one-trick-pony such as using a newreader for the one BBS that it will work with is a bit elitist from my perspective and a bit 'kooky' too. I see no compelling reason to do that when there is solid dependable QWK packet software being used by so many others without the need to over complicate simple FIDO echomail reading/replying. > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
