        We are stuck with this. Why I could not instal Office 2000
  when I had it on that system before, is really beyond me. My
  daughter who gets all stuff from MS free, offered to give me a copy
  of Office XP but as XP will not load the proper data now, I do not
  think that I could use it.  Worth a try ?

        In this last episode, I also thought of doing a Restore. No
  way. All my restore points had been taken out. I have noticed this
  before, what removes them ? My Restore is validated, at 12% on the
  OS HD, ie: 4.5 Megs. I just had a look and even if I have redone
  this system only yesterday, no Point was made, I created one.

        I will try and see if I can set up IBM's Rescue and Recover on
  this putor. It is working wonders on the Thinkpad and might be IBM
  specific. We shall see. On the TP, it saves to an external USB HD.
  It worked wonders when I installed a new larger HD to the TP.
