"\\WinXP\Canoni55 on LPT1" is a network address... anything starting with "\\" is on the network; "WinXP" is the network name of your WinXP computer, and "Canoni55" is the name you've given the printer to share it across the network. And yes, that address SHOULD be available to all. You certainly should be able to connect the printer to the XP system via USB, then share it across the network... though as you suspect, you may continue to be unable to print is the computer is not up and running. If you're hoping to connect the printer to the hub and then to all of your various computers at the same time, I doubt that will work-- but if you just need the hub to get additional USB devices connected to your XP computer, that should be fine. ....
