Powerpoint (and OpenOffice.org Presentations and others of that ilk) aren't designed for great photo display; rather they're for mixing text and graphics to accompany a talk. Both Picasa and Irfanview can be used to display full-screen shows, using all the images in a folder. Certainly these sort of shows look better on screen, in my experience, than a Powerpoint presentation-- and don't require much work to put together... certainly MUCH less than creating a PP file-- especially if the contents of the folder is subject to change.
