That in fact surprised me as well, considering all the times he has said that DOS and Win98SE was good enough for everybody.. :p RC>> At some point in time your needs might exceed 98SE, worry RC>> about new hardware, XP/Vista then. CA> 'Vistas'? Be afraid, be VERY afraid. Without WinFS, it wont be so spectacular. But if at some point in late 2006 and beyond, he decides to spring for a new computer, it will come with Vista on it, unless he decides to build a homemade machine. I fear that he will carry a DOS mentality into such a venture and its the DOS addicts (sorry) who have the most trouble with NT class operating systems since DOS is emulated. DOS support in XP and of course 2K isnt half bad, I have told you before I ran my Fido mailhub using many DOS apps under XP/2k and NT with no issues. I hear said DOS support may not be as robust in Vista. As for me, I have my linux boxes if I want to poke around a command line. For my Windows needs, I will never ever ever ever go back under Win98,98SE,ME for the sake of being a stubborn stick in the mud, I know and enjoy the fact that the NT kernal is far more stabler than the kernel used in 98SE/ME. == Ross Fidonet Feeds Or Fidonet In Your Newsreader! http://www.easternstar.info Blog Or Discussion Forum: http://www.cassell.us Email: ross[at]cassell[dot]us ....
