Sometimes the NT4 setup program chokes when the partition where you had 
the NT installation resides beyond 2 Gigs.  What boot manager were you 
using at the time?

Should be able to do it with Norton Ghost or Powerquest's Drive Image.  
Neither program is inexpensive, but you can download a full working 
trail copy of Norton Ghost from the Symantec WEB site.  I've 
successfully copied my NT4 installation and data from a smaller hard 
drive to a larger one without difficulty using Drive Image.
