Subj : Win2000 refuses to install To : All From : William Grinolds Date : Thu May 25 2000 12:02 pm Hello All! I'm having a heck of a time trying to get Windows 2000 Professional to install and work properly with my devices. First, a run-down of my system: Motherboard: DFI P5BV3+ (VIA MVP3 chipset, Northbridge: VT82C598MVP, Southbridge: VT82C586B) Memory: 2x64 MB PC-100 (128 MB total) IDE: Primary Master = Maxtor 90645D3 (6.45 GB) Secondary Master = PIONEER DR-A01S CD-ROM (24x) AGP: Jaton Video78AGP (NVidia RIVA 128ZX chipset), running at AGP 2x PCI: Slot 1 = empty Slot 2 = Creative Labs SoundBlaster PCI128 Slot 3 = Adaptec AHA-2930CU SCSI devices: ID 1 = Quantum Fireball 1280S (1.2 GB) ID 6 = Ricoh MP-6200S (6x2x2 CD-RW) Slot 4 = SMC EZ Card 10/100 PCI (SMC1211 series) (RTL8139 chipset) ISA: Colorado FC-20 Tape Controller, supporting an HP Colorado T1000 I can install and run Win2000Pro without a problem if I remove all three PCI devices. As soon as I try to boot up with one or more PCI devices, the symptoms vary: with the NIC (brand new, less than a week old), it locks up as soon as it attempts to access the NIC. If the NIC and SCSI cards are in, it refuses to give me a graphics screen. Adding the sound card makes no difference. I suppose I can try it without the FC-20, but I doubt it would do any good. This same *identical* setup works great in Win98. Anyone got any suggestions? Bill Internet: wgrinolds@mail.com --- * Origin: ST:TNG Mail System (USR Courier V.E with x2) (1:387/770.4) .
