Many people use OEM or Full Release versions to install onto a system with an existing operating system-- this is, in fact, necessary in many cases, to fix a broken installation, if a user only has an OEM CD and doesn't want to format and start clean, so that they can keep their existing application installations (etc). There are several ways to 'trick' it into installing over an existing system... what I do is boot to DOS, make sure I can access the CD drive, then: CD \Windows REN Win.com Winbak.com (or whatever name you like) D: (or whatever the CD drive is) Setup Setup checks for the existence of Win.com-- when it doesn't find it, it happily installs over top of the existing installation, preserving all settings. ....
