Does System File Checker look at Winsock?  Can you find the file on
another computer and manually copy it over?  Completely uninstall
networking and reinstall it, all clients, protocols, adapters?

It's possible that the Winsock file was changed by the DSL program.
Did you do a directory search to see if it made a backup of the
old file?
