Details are even less clear... basicly, they will continue PAID phone support 
until 2006-June-- not that I know anyone who would phone MS with a Win98 
question!

They will keep knowledge base and existing critical update files available 
online until 6-06 (which was the case anyway), and they may (in their infinite 
wisdom and mercy) choose to create a new 'critical update' or two if they deem 
the need is critical enough.

Not a big change over dropping support entirely!
