Subj : Recycle Bin From Dos Mod To : JEFF FOY From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Sat Jul 27 2002 01:54 pm 12357053eea0 win32 Hello Jeff - SW>> Yes this is by design, in dos when you issuse a del SW>> command it is deleted and dosn't go to the recylcle bin. JF> Yes, this is what I've been able to find out. I did, JF> however, get a link to something called BigBin that makes JF> it possible. It sits in the tasktray (system tray, whatever JF> they want to call it). Any files deleted from within a dos JF> window are sent to the recycle bin. It seems fairly old and JF> slow but it does work. SW>> However there used to be a command to undelete files but I SW>> dont think it was ever included in "windows dos" JF> I have a program called Recover4All that will undelete JF> files but it's got a few warts of its own. (one being that JF> it puts recovered files in the root directory of whatever JF> drive you choose) I had found an undelete and I really think it came from Microsoft? I tried it from within W98SE and it had a very clean `window' that not only would undelete files it displayed all that it could undelete and allowed you to mark the ones you wanted back. It was very nice and I've lost track of where I put it and can't recall where I found it either. I think it was written by Central Point Software and I remember thinking that Microsoft must have purchased them at some point. I'm sorry I can't be more help but this has me really frustrated - having had the program, tested it, then misplaced it. :-\ > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich - DOS Ghost \o , > <| www.undercoverdesign.com/dosghost |> __o/ > / > www.undercoverdesign.com/dosghost/faf < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
