The model I use if the FR3004LC, it has the standard RJ45 ports.

The comm port can be used for a analog or ISDN modem, which I have a ZOOM modem 
connected to it, therefore if Cable Internet goes out, I simply launch MSIE and 
enter into the router config and switch to the dialup config and it calls my 
backup ISP and I at least have something going. The comm port is DB9

The parallel port is as you guessed a print server, I have a laser printer 
connected to it, the router comes with software you install on the windows 
machines on the lan that allows you to print to whatever printer you have 
connected to the router.
