Any router is better than Win98SE's ICS...

However PCWorld did some reviews on SOHO routers, Netgear finished last in 
almost every category except $price$.

Speed, security and configuration.

This review was what led me to the Asante route, in addition to its built in 
comm and parallel ports, no complaints.
