In general, you can't simply plug a DSL or Cable modem into a hub and expect to share the Internet. There are a couple of ways it can be done: -- Add two network adapters to one of the PCs... plug one into the DSL or Cable Modem, and the other into the hub. Use Internet Connection Sharing or 3rd-party Proxy sharing or Gateway software to share the connection to the other computer(s). -- Plug the DSL/Cable modem into your hub's Uplink port. (Note that this may share one port with a standard network port-- in that case, don't plug a computer into that port). Get two IP addresses from your service provider, and set up your two computers that way. -- Get a router rather than a standard hub. Plug the DSL/Cable modem into the router's uplink port, and the other computers into the other ports (or plug your existing hub in, using the hub's uplink port). Optionally, have the router provide dynamic IP addresses to the computers on your network. ....
