LG> Two options, if #1 doesn't work, you'll have to use #2. LG> #1. Pre-partition a 2GB FAT16 partition on your 15GB drive, then run LG> the NT installation again. This should get you around the glitch with LG> the large drive. LG> #2. If #1 doesn't work.. then there's a KB document on the Microsoft LG> site that describes using the ATAPI.SYS driver from SP4 to build a LG> patched set of boot floppies that will be able to communicate with LG> your >8GB drive. LG> btw... while you're building that 2GB partition, go ahead and copy LG> the \i386 folder from the CDROM to your hard drive and run the LG> installation from the hard drive... you'll be glad you did. :-) Thanks, what I did was basically option #1, had a existing 2 Gig FAT16 partion on the drive. Previously also had Linux on it's own partion on the drive. I suspect that the problem was caused by Linux putting something in the partion table which NT did not like. NT reported that partion as either damaged or unformatted. My solution was to get my WIN98SE boot disk out, boot from it and fire up FDISK, delete all the partions on the HDD, created a 2 Gig partion (FAT32) :-). Rebooted and changed BIOS default to boot from the CD-ROM. NT loaded fine, could not use the FAT32 partion, using the FDISK utility of NT setup to delete the partion and created a 2 Gig. NTFS partion, and installed NT 4.0 Server as that was what I had in the CD-ROM. So I got NT loaded on the system, but with the loss of the whole system, which I would rather not have had happen. Problem was it appears to have been a corrupt partion table, unfortunately I don't know how or if it is possible to fix partion tables, above and beyond what the abilities of Norton Utilities. Now I am building my FidoNet system from the ground up. Many thanks, Russell PS. System is now at FixPack 6, if I can install and play Age of Empires on it, I might just leave it as a WINNT only system. --- Msged/NT TE 05 * Origin: Rusty's BBS - Bloemfontein, Free State, South Africa (5:7105/1) .
