Subj : Win2K & Monitor To : Alexey Gradovtsev From : Jeff Guerdat Date : Fri Sep 29 2000 12:55 am On 09-29-00, Alexey Gradovtsev said to Charles Scaglione: CS> and let it detect the monitor. If the monitor is not "Plug N Play" CS> detectable, you'll have to add it yourself. Win98 should use the new CS> monitor.inf file. You now should be able to setup your video card to the CS> resolution and scanning rates the monitor is capable of. AG>Actually I can't remove the monitor. To do so the row "Monitors" should be AG>shown in the list of installed devices but there isn't! The AG>"Dispatcher of Devices" (I translate correctly?) lists my AG>Videoadapter (Riva TNT2 M64), but doesn't list the monitor. AG>In the "Monitor Settings" window it is described as (word AG>by word) "(Standard Monitors) VGA" with no ability to AG>change its drivers. AG>Neither I can't add another monitor because there's no AG>monitors at all in the list of devices can be installed. If you go into the Display control panel, choose Settings and click on the Advanced button at the bottom right, you should get a new dialog box that includes a Monitor tab. Look in there for the ability to change or set the monitor. If there's a selection that lets you see all possible devices, enable it. AG>The additional information that may be important (I don't know exactly) AG>is: I have no ACPI BIOS so during the W2K installation process after the AG>first reboot I press F5 and choose the "Standard PC" option. May AG>be this leads to the fault? Or may be the reason is in fact AG>that W2K is installed in the same partition with Win98SE? This shouldn't have affected the monitor installation but you should generally let the W2K installation figure out what it wants to use. I did the same thing as you one time and ended up with a less than robust installation when I was done setting it up. Letting the installation determine what it wants to use based on the BIOS data that is incorporated in the installation seems to be a better solution. ___ *Durango b211 * DurangoMail for Windows NT/9x --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) .
