This is a really useful and interesting information, especially because that's a comparatively new field of knowledge for me. But the thing is that I can't apply your advice in practice because of the problem described below. CS> After you change the monitor.inf file, go into Control Panel, System, CS> Devices, and remove the monitor. Now, restart Win98 (You mean Win2000) CS> and let it detect the monitor. If the monitor is not "Plug N Play" CS> detectable, you'll have to add it yourself. Win98 should use the new CS> monitor.inf file. You now should be able to setup your video card to the CS> resolution and scanning rates the monitor is capable of. Actually I can't remove the monitor. To do so the row "Monitors" should be shown in the list of installed devices but there isn't! The "Dispatcher of Devices" (I translate correctly?) lists my Videoadapter (Riva TNT2 M64), but doesn't list the monitor. In the "Monitor Settings" window it is described as (word by word) "(Standard Monitors) VGA" with no ability to change its drivers. Neither I can't add another monitor because there's no monitors at all in the list of devices can be installed. The additional information that may be important (I don't know exactly) is: I have no ACPI BIOS so during the W2K installation process after the first reboot I press F5 and choose the "Standard PC" option. May be this leads to the fault? Or may be the reason is in fact that W2K is installed in the same partition with Win98SE? Sincerely yours, *Alexey*. .... Come, sleep!
