Okay, try this: Boot up a Win98 startup disk on that machine, run FDISK/MBR, then see if Win2K boots up. If it doesn't, then try the Repair option and tell it to repair the Boot Sector. The MBR is different from the Boot Sector in that the MBR is the first sector of the 'block device' (hard disk in this case) and the boot sector is the first sector of the partition.
