Why not use the RASDIAL command?:

[d:\bbs]rasdial /?
USAGE:
        rasdial entryname [username [password|*]] [/DOMAIN:domain]
                [/PHONE:phonenumber] [/CALLBACK:callbacknumber]
                [/PHONEBOOK:phonebookfile] [/PREFIXSUFFIX]

        rasdial [entryname] /DISCONNECT

        rasdial

Command completed successfully.

I use to connect:

rasdial myconnection myname mypassword

and to disconnect:

rasdial /DISCONNECT
