William, The Compaqs we get at work can share IRQ 11 with the NIC, video, and Adaptec 2940 SCSI on the PCI bus. When I tried substituting an older 1542B SCSI card (ISA) which also uses IRQ 11, it didnt work. System kept locking up. Tried other slots, same thing. When I changed the IRQ to 10 on the 1542B, it worked fine, but only for CD, tape & such. It would not boot the h-drive. I suspect there's something there with sharing the IRQ on PCI slots that doesnt work when you mix in ISA cards. Rich I-Net turtil@frontiernet.net ....
