(a few may have a jumper to enable it but the bulk of them are not PNP). This is a really popular card, ne2000 compatible ISA non PNP, so I have a difficult time believing MS can just drop support for it. At least it should allow support with a warning or something. > > Everyone understands computers today, they make us learn about them in > > school. > > Yep. :( Actually that was only a partial quote, what he really said was that if you aren't stupid or amish then you know about computers already. But his comment was limited to kids in school. > btw, the don't have the Instant messenger uninstall that I fought so hard > for in Millennium -- simple fix though, just rename the Instant messenger > directory. that may or may not work. Download and install the updated NetBEUI.INF and NetBEUI.SYS files and make sure nbf.sys is in Windows\system32\drivers folder. > > Soon to come, my steps for de-idiotizing Whistler. > > Already on my way of doing that... Start with changing the start menu to classic, change folder options to classic, turn on the option to show file extensions, search the registry for NeverShowExt and rename it to DONOTNeverShowExt then reboot. Now if you get extensions for .lnk files on your desktop you can go back thru the registry and change it back (better than deleting the entry). Turn off the fade effect (I prefer the slide effect), change outlook express security settings to disabled or prompt for whatever zone you use with OE. Turn off metarefresh in IE advanced options. Next install I do I will make up a good complete list. If you have more please post them, especially anything security related.
