Subj : Re: new IE patch To : Geo. From : Rohan Beckett Date : Thu Apr 05 2001 02:01 pm From: Rohan Beckett hey.. I use Netscape 4.7 99% of the time.. I'm used to slow table renders :) (eg: on stupidly large nested tables, it tends to lock all instances of netscape, for about 2-3 seconds.. up to 10 seconds for bad pages.. and that's on an athlon825/256meg!) but honestly.. although I don't use IE that much (only on pages that netscape comes up blank :) I always thought that IE4/5 were pretty darn fast at tables.. unfortunatly.. as nice as that is, it wasn't enough to get me to change browsers. pretty funny actually... I'm always on cutting edge technology.. but there's a few bits of software I've just hung onto for a few years (interestingly enough.. mainly internet related apps) Netscape 4.x (6 is out..) mIRC 5 (5.6 or something is out.. 5 is about 4 years old) cuteftp2.6 (about 3 years old) icq99 I guess I'm just still comfortable with them all.. and can't see any reason to change plus, I'm quite proud of 600+meg worth of email.. many messages dating back to Netscape's first browser+email... version2... I have every single email I've ever received from 1995! I've always liked the browser/email combo.. not having to leave another app running, to get notification of new email. of course, with 256meg of ram these days.. who cares? :) RB "Geo." wrote: > > "Rohan Beckett" wrote in message > news:3AC72C5E.E0536C54@peninsula.hotkey.net.au... > > Just installed IE6 beta the other night... > > > > can't say that there's much difference from IE5 > > On my machine it starts about 3x faster and runs much much faster.
