Subj : Re: 1gig To : Adam Flinton From : Rohan Beckett Date : Thu Apr 05 2001 01:47 pm From: Rohan Beckett for about 2 hours a few weeks ago, I had 640meg of ram in my server.. then I took it out and had 512meg in my workstation... just to see what it looked like! funnily enough.. when the server (dual p2-266) had 640meg... the video display went shockingly slow... mouse jerked.. windows 'peeled' off the screen.. almost like running win95 on a 386! :) yet nothing was using CPU time. The video card is a matrox mill2, pci.. and I think it must have had something to do with the video driver or something? (running win2k workstation) when I took out a single 256meg chip, and went back to 2x128meg dimm's, the screen was fine.. and that same 256meg chip is currently in the machine I'm typing on now.. (ram overclocked to 146mhz!) no problems at all! weird... Rohan.
