Subj : Browsers accept connections from internet? To : All From : Randall Parker Date : Mon Apr 02 2001 06:08 am From: Randall Parker ZoneAlarm does a pretty good job of telling you on a task-by-task basis when tasks want to do things. Well, why does it when starting up a browser that the browser wants to register to be a server (Moz and I think IE as well) or to accept connections from the internet (Opera)? And why is the exact nature of the report different for different browsers? I haven't yet answered No to the question. I suppose I need to do that and then see what happens. I thought browsers initiate all connections with the outside and therefore would never be expected to be a listener for new connections on a socket of their own. But do they have to create a socket just to be able to initiate a socket connection to an http or other type of server? --- BBBS/NT v4.00 MP * Origin: Barktopia Gating Project http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) .
