To : All From : Frank Haber Date : Sun Apr 01 2001 07:08 am From: "Frank Haber" I've run neither NT nor 2000 on a laptop myself, and a friend's ThinkPad A???20 (the 2-spindle one) keeps slowing down radically, to the point of irritation. 2000 upped to SPs1 with a couple of pre-Sp2 fixes I've not seen yet are loaded. He defragged last week. FAT32 20G C: drive only. Even folder loads in Explorer sometimes take 2-3 seconds. Temp's clear; power management is at full-bore with AC plugged in. Still slow. Disk is slow even the second and third time you do a simple operation, like load a file in an editor, or do a file|properties. First guesses?
