Basically what has happened is the rubber stamp that MS uses to stamp paychecks with a signature has been stolen (while verisign had it). It does not mean that the people who stole it can write their own checks, it just means that when you see a check from MS you have to look at the signature manually now instead of trusting the "this software signed by microsoft" popup.
