You are undoubtedly getting bonked by the gulf between the protected mode 
command processor and COMMAND.COM processor.  Protected mode command line WILL 
run the DOS app, but the return codes don't propagate well between the 
different worlds.  Gotta force it all into a DOS mode command processor.
