I'm out of ideas... don't know everything. Know a lot, but not all. I 
have noticed some odd things on my once very stable system of 6 years 
(or so) since installing DSL software w/PPOE interface. Tweak no longer 
removes the shortcut arrows, my custom screensaver gets kicked to a 
Windows standard and the Windows logon box now appears even though its a 
single user system with no password.  

System appears to run normal other than that and updates and downloads 
work properly. Have noticed groupol showed up in the /inf directory, but 
apparently isn't installed. The system is being used just for recreation 
at the moment so I'm not too worried about it.

Still bugs me you're timing out during an install, though. If you ever 
discover the cause/fix do let me know please?
