RC>I made 3 or 4 mouse clicks, didnt talk to a soul. It's not the idea of three or four mouse clicks. It's because YOU HAVE to get their permission to use what you paid for. If you don't get their permission, your entire system - not just the OS - goes down. RC>But for all practical intents and purposes my machine is brand new. That's a plus of course. Any good upgrade is one that returns the machine to a like new (at least in your eyes) condition. RC> CS> Oh, I know - you didn't pay for the software, RC> CS> just the right to use the license. That's debatable. RC>Why is it debateable? Because Microsoft has yet to submit their EULA to a court test by a lawsuit. Remember, violation of the EULA is a civil matter, not a criminal one. Of course blatant piracy is criminal and I agree MS has every right to go after and see that those individuals are prosecuted under our current laws. Activation is easy as you say. It was easy when I first activated (have not had to do it again) and is probably not even noticeable for the great majority of users. However, who is to say what hoops you'll have to jump through in the future to use your computer - at least with MS software and Operating System? Also keep in mind that activation has not and will not stop pirating of MS intellectual property or anyone else's.
