I also use the Auto-Update notification and have had problems since they 
updated it,with downloads taking forever to complete. I use the AU feature to 
notify me when an update is available, then I uncheck the boxes on the listed 
files,and close the window. I then click START, WINDOWS UPDATE and let the 
browser bringup the window that searches for updates. The downlaod works at 
normal speed that way.
