Subj : Removing Linux boot To : ALAN ZISMAN From : CHRIS CRANFORD Date : Sun Sep 08 2002 04:05 am -> On a Win9x system, I would remove that, using FDISK /MBR, but I suspect doing -> that to a WinNT/2K system would leave it unbootable-- at least to Win2K. Yeah, that would remove the entire master boot record causing a complete unbooted system. -> Am I going to have to boot to the W2K install CD-ROM, and run the repair -> module? Will I have to re-install SP1 after that? Or is that when I get to -> use the unbootable Emergency Recovery Diskette (see previous -> message)? Will it all depends. If you run the installation again, basically all that does is looks at the files that are currently there, updates them if they are out-of-date with what's on the CD-ROM. I would suggest that you repair the system using the CD-ROM and then afterwards, just run the Sp1 upgrade again to make sure that all the applications/dlls and other goodies that were fixed in SP1 upgrade are all current and you don't have any .DLL mismatches laying around anywhere to cause you grief later.
