Subj : Win2000 dual NIC config woes. To : All From : Craig Healy Date : Sat Dec 15 2001 01:13 pm I've had some difficulty in setting up two NICs in a Win2000 box. NIC 1: 3COM Ethernet 3C905B-TX using Client for Microsoft Networks and TCP/IP NIC 2: 3COM Ethernet 3C900 Combo (10 Base 2) using Client Service for Netware and NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol. Problem is, whenever I select something for one card, the same selection is made for the other. If I uncheck something, it unchecks it from the other as well. I know this can be done, as I have done it by trial and error on two other Win2000 boxes in the past. But this one is being obstinate, and I can't separate the clients and protocols to their desired cards. Either card alone will configure and run properly. But both don't want to co-exist with separate configs. I don't believe there's a hardware trouble. I cannot use TCP/IP bound to the Combo card, and can't allow IPX/SPX to be bound to the 10/100 card. It will cause problems through the whole network. I've tried.. There are conflicts that shut the two networks down.
